POPPOU was created in the belief that beautiful design is a way to express our character and to reflect our personality. Our goal is to make you feel exited to come home and enjoy the beauty of it. In the stressful daily life it is important to have a feel-good oasis where you can retreat to and reload your energy. For that reasons we only use the highest quality for all our materials and use our inspiration to create unique and beautiful furniture.
OUR STORY & OUR VISION
POPPOU was founded with the vision to combine natural wood with beautiful design to create furniture that enhance your home-experience and reflect who you are. Natural wood is a comforting, warm and uplifting material and we believe it is one of the best ways to create a happy and healthy home. What we love about natural wood is - It has character. The natural variations in the grain of the wood make each piece truly unique which distinguishes it from other forms of furniture that are mass-produced to look the same.
The natural beauty and craftsmanship of solid wood, as well as the way it ages, all contribute to its personality and the way it enlivens a space. It is important for us to produce long-living and high quality furniture that will stay and grow with you!
One of the most beautiful and durable types of wood is Teak and therefore we almost exclusively use Teak wood for our furniture production. It can be found in a few countries in the world but there are two problems with teak wood. The quality and the sustainability. For these reasons we choose Indonesia for our furniture factory.
SUSTAINABILITY & RESPONSABILITY
Illegal logging and deforestation are major issues endangering forest around the world and we believe it is our responsibility to produce our products in a sustainable way. We are holding the SVLK certificate (Timber Legality Assurance System) which is a mandatory legality and sustainability certification system for Indonesian timber products. The SVLK system was developed by the Indonesian government to support the eradication of illegal logging and to promote healthy forest management. The SVLK system complies with the EU Timber Regulations and therefore all SVLK certified timber products will receive the FLEGT license to export to the EU.
Another great benefit of solid wood furniture is their longevity that can last up to a lifetime in contrast to less durable furniture which require frequent replacement. Solid wood is an environmentally friendly solution as it is biodegradable compared to many other synthetic materials used to make a lot of furniture out there. Also for our weaving materials we are focusing on fast growing and locally harvested plants making them sustainable and emission free.
